JAY KORNER

Jay Korner is based in Gothenburg on the Swedish West Coast. He writes music and lyrics inspired by the funk and soul scene from the early 70's.

His heroes are legends like Buddy Miles, Ohio Players, Billy Preston, Etta James, The Meters, Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, James Brown, Commodores, Betty Davis, Bill Withers and Mandrill, just to name a few.  He is also a big fan of contemporary artists like Orgone, Neal Francis, Dumpstaphunk, The Brooks, Lettuce, The Haggis Horns, Monophonics, The New Mastersounds, and many more.

Jay's voice, lyrics and the strong influence from the early 70s makes his musical signature unique. The portfolio of songs is an irresistible funky cake with groovy drums, percussion and bass, awesome rhythmic guitar riffs, exquisite horns, smooth clavinet, Rhodes piano, and Hammond organ licks.

Korner works closely with the Swedish multi-instrumentalist, producer and artist Alexander Asp. It's a great creative partnership and they are both involved in arrangements and production. The songs are recorded organically with Jay on vocals, drums and percussion and Alexander on bass and guitars. There are also some excellent Swedish and international musicians contributing on the songs.

Jay Korner is managed and released by the independent label Soundly. The plan is to drop an album late 2024.
